FAQ Friday: Assignments

This is a legal document that transfers interest in or ownership of an asset to another person or entity. This can be an asset that provides income.

We commonly do assignments of business interests. An assignment of an LLC to your Trust as an example which allows a member owner to have a trustee step in upon death and prepare a transfer of ownership.

Probate avoidance is something our office keeps in mind and a Revocable Living Trust is a great way to do that.

We can also assign personal property such as jewelry. A promissory note could also be assigned. Legal representation or guidance is important when considering the use of an Assignment.
