On Friday, September 25th, Attorney Paula Mattson-Sarli talks about open enrollment.
Open enrollment for Medicare starts October 15 through November 7th. It is always a good idea to review your part D prescription drug plans and discuss with a qualified insurance professional your options for Medicare supplements and Medicare Advantage (often called Part C).
It’s important to get good information amongst all the calls and mailers you might receive.
Medicare is a federal program, mostly for those that are over 65. There are some components for disabled adults that worked for a period of time.
Medicaid is something else entirely. It is a federal program that is administered by the states. Recipients are lower income or possibly minor children. There are different Medicaid programs including long-term care coverage for being a nursing home.
When discussing Medicare versus Medicaid, we remind you that Medicare is something you will likely have if you have worked and are now retired and are over 65. At least enroll in part A when it’s time. It’s important to know if you have other sources of insurance such as Tricare, federal or from an employer.
