FAQ Friday: List of Assets

Friday, November 14th, Attorney, Paula Mattson-Sarli talks about preparing your list of assets.

We will need to know if your assets are jointly titled or individually titled. We will also ask about life insurance and any beneficiaries are listed. Knowing who the owner of a policy is can be helpful too.

Life insurance with a cash value that doesn’t have a successor owner will go to the estate upon the death of the insured.

We recently had clients who owned policies that weren’t able to take over ownership until getting letters of administration from the register of wills.
